Teaching English Using Games

Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris sering dipandang sebagai pelajaran sulit dan membosankan oleh siswa, karena tingkat kesulitannya yang tinggi bagi para siswa  yang bahasa ibu dan bahasa pengantarnya bukan bahasa Inggris.

Games atau permainan bisa menjadi salah satu metode yang menarik bagi mereka, sehingga siswa menjadi lebih termotivasi untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris.

Berikut beberapa games yang bisa digunakan untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk segala usia :

VOCABULARY :

1. Noughts and Crosses

• Aim    :  to revise vocabulary from previous lesson in a fun, stress free atmosphere
• Procedure :
  • draw a grid on the board
  • • divide the class into 2 teams
    • teams take  it in to nominate square
    • teacher asks a question about vocabulary from the previous lessons.
    • If they get the answer right, the team’s symbol goes into square (O/X)
    • If they get wrong, the opposition teams get the chance to answer
    • The first team to have a line of correct answer in any direction is the winner.

2.    Fishing for English :

Ask the students to collect any English they find in their enviroment.

3.     A to Z Race

Procedure:

• Divide the class into two teams each standing line at the board
• Give them a topic like food, drinks, sports,etc
• The students at the front on each line runs to the board and must write a word in the lexical set beginning with A on the board.
• She then hands the chalks  or pen to the next person in row, and run back of the line.
• If they can not think a word beginning with a particular letter can leave a space.
• The team with the most words at the end is the winner.

4.    The Memory Games

• Collect around 20 objects.
• Cover  them with  scarf.
• Tell the students to look carefully at the objects and remember  them.
• After 4 minutes cover the object and tell the students to write down.
• note : suitable for children in young ages.

1. Riddles
2. Lateral Thinking
3. The Balloon Game
